For a couple that finalized their divorce last December, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were spotted looking awfully close Tuesday night.
The Dexter costars -- who play siblings on camera but were married for two years off camera -- had an affectionate, romantic dinner together at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, RadarOnline reports.
"Michael and Jennifer were seated at a dimly lit corner table, sipping wine. It was a very romantic setting and definitely looked like a date," an eyewitness tells RadarOnline.com.
Hall, 40, and Carpenter, 32, eloped on New Year's Eve 2008, but split two years later amid speculation that the Emmy winner had engaged in an affair with Julia Stiles, who was Dexter's season 6 love interest (a claim Stiles has vigorously denied).
Now sources tell Radar that Hall, who is in remission from Hodgkin's lymphoma, was devastated by the divorce and is still in love with his ex-wife. By the looks of their PDA-filled dinner, Carpenter may feel the same way.
"When Jennifer got up to use the ladies, Michael squeezed her hand, looked up at her and she smiled. And when she got back, they held hands on the table for a bit," the eyewitness says. "At one point, Michael leaned across the table and he and Jennifer kissed -- a make-out kind of kiss, not a friendly one. They both looked really happy."
So, was it a reconciliation dinner or just two super-friendly exes?
