Are Jelly Shoes Making a Comeback?

The popular 1980s footwear returns with a vengeance

Nope, you're not in a hot tub with John Cusack traveling back to 1986, jelly shoes are really here again! But these aren't like the ones you wore while watching Jem and the Holograms and teasing your bangs. The 2010 versions are bejeweled, chic and made for adults, with celebs like Anne Hathaway bouncing around in the updated sandals.

Here are a few cute choices, so you too can go retro without going overboard (or over budget):

- Trade in your blah ballet flats for a pair of Northern Lites ($59 at Chinese Laundry) translucent jellys from Chinese Laundry. The rhinestone-studded footwear, available in Clear, Pink and Smoke (pictured), features breathable eyelets to prevent sweaty tootsies.

- Or show off a pretty pedicure with Steven Jellys ($69.95 at Zappos), available in Black, Clear, Fushia (pictured) and Yellow. The attention-grabbing bedazzled shoe will add some sparkle to your summer look, and is a great going-out alternative to the usual strappy sandals.

- If you're not ready to jump on the jelly bandwagon just yet, no problem. Test out the trend with the Michael Michael Kors MK Charm Jelly ($49 at Zappos) cork sandal, available in White (pictured), Black and Sun. This twist on the traditional thong will become one of your beach basics.

Bonus flashback points: Match your Silly Bandz bracelets to your shoes. Now that's totally rad!

Do you think jelly shoes should stay... or go back to the 1980s? Chime in now!
