Did Goldie Hawn accidentally spill the beans on Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy's marriage? The Something Borrowed actress and the Muse frontman have been engaged since last April but have yet to tie the knot -- or so we thought!
In a recent interview, Hudson's famous mama dropped the "m" word while describing Kate and Matthew's relationship. "My kids are fantastic with their children, they have an amazing parental ethic and I'm very proud of them for that," Hawn, 66, told the London Evening Standard's ES magazine.
"When my daughter Kate married an English rock star it didn't worry me; all that matters is that the relationship is a good one," she continued. "What people do is not necessarily who they are."
Yes, the quote definitely said "married" -- but Hawn now denies that she spoke that particular word. On Monday morning, Goldie addressed the marriage question via Twitter.
"Darling once again twisted the truth. They aren't married," Hawn told an inquiring fan. "Baby they never get it right!"
And by "they," she means the press -- not her daughter, who was previously married to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. (She has a son, Ryder, 8, from that marriage, and another, 8-month-old Bingham, from her relationship with Bellamy.)
So Hawn either used the wrong word, or the reporter did! If it was a slip of the tongue, it's especially ironic coming from Goldie -- who has been famously un-married to partner Kurt Russell since 1983.
But if Hudson just wants to keep her marriage a secret, well, she's not the only celeb to make that choice. At this year's Academy Awards, Natalie Portman and choreographer Benjamin Millepied (parents to 9-month-old Aleph) appeared to be wearing wedding bands, prompting reports that they'd secretly gotten hitched. And Halle Berry isn't married to fiance Olivier Martinez, but they did hide their engagement for a few months while the press speculated about her new ring.
Another famous couple keeping their relationship status under wraps? Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, whose engagement hasn't been officially announced -- but was confirmed by Justin's grandmother. Note to celebrities who care about privacy: Be careful what you reveal at the family dinner table!
