A very real soap opera just got steamier. Larry King has announced that neither he, nor anyone on his legal team, are "going to make any comment to the press for two weeks about anything" involving a possible divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick King. But after rumors that King, 76, allegedly cheated on his wife with her sister, it turns out Southwick, 50, may have some explaining to do -- now that an alleged lover claims the two had a hot-and-heavy affair.
Hector Penate worked as a baseball coach for the couple's children, Cannon and Chase, but has gone public about what he says was his much more intimate role in Mrs. King's life. Penate claims that what he and Southwick were up to was anything but child's play: "Larry was out of town and I showed up at the kids' game," Penate told Entertainment Tonight. "Then she got a little flirtatious with me, like I could feel her coming on to me. I'm a man and I felt I had to do something."
Penate went on to divulge that he and Southwick would get together when his alleged lover's husband was working on his CNN series, Larry King Live, and the baseball coach even says that the two got busy in the Kings' marital bed.
Most sordid of all, Penate claims the two fell in love during their affair and that Southwick urged Penate to continue the relationship, allegedly saying: "Don't worry, he's going to die soon."
And why, exactly, has this kids' sports enthusiast decided to kiss and tell? Penate promises he's only coming forward to share his side of the story. "If I don't speak for myself, who [will]?" he says. Okay, but why do we suspect he's trying to hit a home run in the famous-for-being-a-homewrecker playoffs?
