Shia LaBeouf might be the poorest excuse for a bad boy -- ever.
The Transformers star recently spoke out on his drunken arrest from last year, admitting he made a stupid mistake and taking responsibility for his actions, after getting thrown out of a Chicago Walgreens. Now word comes that the actor has an arrest warrant chasing him, since he failed to show up for a court date stemming from a ticket he got for unlawful smoking.
Unlawful smoking! It wasn't even pot. It was a regular old cigarette -- and he was outside -- but the law states that it is illegal to smoke "within 20 feet of all entrances, exits and open windows of buildings open to the public.” In addition, smoking is prohibited on “all sidewalks and pedestrian areas in Downtown Burbank and all areas within 5 feet.”
So, he was issued a citation and was scheduled to show up in court at 8:30 Tuesday morning. He didn't and neither did his lawyer. Now there is a $1,000 bench warrant out for his arrest.
It's a little ridiculous. He's all this bad press for really minor infractions. Shia needs to decide if he wants to be a Hollywood bad boy or not. If he does, he should really think about breaking some bigger laws. Right now he just looks like a wannabe bad boy -- or like he's trying to get initiated into some sort of high school gang.
