Designing a family collage can be great fun for children and parents of all ages. To get started, you will need a few basic items: scissors, tape, glue, poster board or other thick paper, magazines and material to incorporate into your collage.
OUR FAMILY FAVORITES
Find photographs of you and your children and paste them onto poster board. Surround the photographs with all your favorite items, like favorite colors, pictures of your favorite hobbies, photographs of your favorite foods and favorite animals.
THE FAMILY HISTORY COLLAGE
This makes a great show and tell project. Dig up old black-and-white photographs of your family from any time period. Then research that time period. Use your library to make copies of old newspapers that reveal information about the times of the pictures. Rummage through history magazines to find pictures from that time period and add them to the collage.
SPECIAL DAY COLLAGE
Take a special day such as your child's birthday and research that date. Put a photo of your child in the middle and pictures of what you looked like when your child was born. Include headlines of what was happening that day. You can research other trends of the day such as top hits, top movies and what was "hot" on television. Use words or other cutouts to represent your findings.
