Avril Lavigne has taken the next step and has filed for divorce from husband of three years, Deryck Whibley.
According to TMZ.com, Avril has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split and noted that they have been separated since Sept. 4. The singer is not asking for spousal support from Deryck, and is hoping not to have to give him any cash either.
Avril announced on her blog last month that she and the Sum 41 rocker were over. Sources say that it was Avril's idea to end the marriage and that Deryck is devastated. The pair wed when Avril was only 21.
