It was a landmark year for women in Hollywood, as Kathryn Bigelow became the first-ever female winner of the Academy Award for best director. Not only that, but her small-budget indie The Hurt Locker won best picture over the $300 million blockbuster Avatar -- which happened to be directed by Bigelow’s ex-husband James Cameron. Now that’s a perfect Hollywood ending.
