Baby Beckham -- Were They Going for a Girl?

So much for wanting it to be a surprise. Victoria Beckham and David Beckham have announced that baby number four is (drumroll, please) ... a girl. The famously fabulous couple, already blessed with a trio of presumably rough-and-tumble boys, admitted in the past that they’d love to have a little girl (Posh giggling something about having someone to bequeath her uber-chic wardrobe to we'd imagine), and it turns out they got their wish this time around.

My thoughts on baby Beckham are admittedly scattered: How does a pregnant, otherwise swizzle-stick thin Posh not tip over? (Especially on those sky-high heels she adores.) What would it be like to have a mom who never, ever smiles in public? And most distressingly, how, for heaven’s sake, am I not going to pass out after seeing photos of the hunky soccer star dad cradling a tiny pink bundle?

Before the sex was announced, folks were wondering what it would mean to the Bs if the bump turned out to be another boy. Would they be disappointed? Would they keep reproducing until they scored the coveted girl-goal? As the mom of two (very girly) girls, I used to think it was horrifying when people would ask if we were going to “keep trying” for a boy... then one day my clearly unhorrified husband replied, “If there were any guarantees, I might consider it.” Thank God he doesn’t have a uterus, because I’m perfectly tickled with our matching set.
