Once your baby starts eating solid food, serve him natural fiber—small portions of fruit, vegetables and whole grains like barley and oatmeal. Avoid giving your baby fiber supplements—he needs whole food, not just fiber.
It's normal for babies to grunt or get red in the face when they poop. Breast-fed babies tend to have more bowel movements. If you switch from breast milk to formula, don't be alarmed if your baby doesn't eliminate as often. Make sure the formula is mixed properly, and allow some time for your child's body to adapt to the adjustment.
