Baby tooth cleaner or toothpaste?

My son is 16 months old and loves his toothbrush. I've been brushing his teeth with Baby Orajel tooth and gum cleaner. I was just wondering when I should switch to toothpaste?

Question:

That's great your son is cooperative for toothbrushing! If the Orajel product contains fluoride, that would be fine to continue using.

There is no "set age" for switching to regular toothpaste, but I would advise trying it once all the primary teeth are in the mouth.

For any fluoride-containing paste or gel, it is also advisable you only place a "match head" size, especially if the water in your area is fluoridated or your child is taking fluoride supplements.
