Fact of the Week
Children drowning in bathtubs account for about two-thirds of the 459 reported drowning deaths in the home. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of 78 deaths and 110 non-fatal incidents and complaints from January 1983 through May 2001 involving baby bath seats and rings. In many of these cases, the children were left unattended by caregivers.
