Your Baby's 12th Week of Life

What's Happening with Your Baby

Your little one may be quite the social butterfly now, though he still reserves most of his enthusiasm for his mom and dad. He may be starting to laugh out loud when you talk to him and will just bubble over when you tickle him. The oohs and aahs received from strangers will become more frequent as your baby responds to them. He will be overjoyed when you get down on his level and squeal, right along with him.

Taking Care of Yourself

If you are returning to work, this may be the last week you are at home with your baby. Use this week to prepare yourself emotionally for the transition. During the week, visit your baby's caregiver several times, both to ease your mind and to allow your baby to become accustomed to her and the setting. Frame a picture of your baby to take to work and show off to your coworkers. Looking at a picture of your little one -- and holding a piece of clothing or a blankie with his smell -- can also help you relax when you are expressing your milk.
