'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka: Being Single Isn't So Bad

The hot-tempered pilot isn't pining after Vienna Girardi -- he's loving the freedom of being unattached

Jake Pavelka's Bachelor experience didn't exactly provide him with the fairytale ending he was hoping for. But the former pilot says that his broken engagement from final-rose-winner Vienna Girardi has actually been good for him.

"You know what, being single sometimes isn't a bad thing. It gives you time to worry about you and work on yourself," Pavelka, 32, told UsMagazine.com at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event in L.A. Saturday.

Admitting that his split from Girardi was "disappointing at first," the reality star says he's definitely found the upside of being on his own again.

"I've been taking advantage of being single," he said. "It's been really nice to kind of slow down a little."

Still, the aspiring actor (he's hired an acting coach!) says he's very open to dating -- and he's not limiting himself to one particular type of woman.

"I like blondes, brunettes, redheads or any combination," he quipped. "I'm just looking for a sweetheart. That's the biggest thing. I'm looking for a girl that has a really big heart."
