'Bachelor' Star Gia Allemand Dead at 29 of Apparent Suicide

The reality show beauty, who appeared in Season 14 with Jake Pavelka, has died after reportedly taking her own life

Gia Allemand, cast member from Season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka, has passed away at the age of 29 from an apparent suicide, People reports.

Gia had been hospitalized at University Hospital in New Orleans on Aug. 12 and was said to be in critical condition. The star was later put on life support, with her mother and boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, by her side.

According to a statement released on Aug. 14 from her family: "Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn. Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. Loved ones and fans will remember Gia as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and her mission to rescue homeless pets."

Not only was the reality star well known for her role on The Bachelor, but she also had a career as a model with fashion spreads in Maxim and also appearead on The Bachelor Pad.

Many stars of the show tweeted their sadness over her passing, including her Bachelor love Jake.
