'The Bachelorette's' Juicy Off-Camera Intrigue

The Men Tell All episode of The Bachelorette  (ABC, Monday, 8 p.m. ET) is a big snore. That's according to sources who attended the July 17th taping, anyway. Neither of those controversial, not-actually-single contestants—Justin "Rated R" Rego or Frank Neuschaefer—bothered to even show up. The only moments that came close to genuine, on-air tension were generated by pouty, fourth-runner-up Kirk DeWindt, lashing out at the absent Frank; and creepy tattoo man, Kasey Kahl, returning to sing to Ali Fedotowsky once again.

But here's the thing: This is actually one of the juiciest seasons of Bachelor/Bachelorette in a long time. Why? Because there's actually quite a bit of off-camera intrigue swirling around this season of the show, and that includes some off-camera moments during this special. Here's what we won't actually see (but can read about from sources who did):

DeWindt might have exaggerated a little about his bruised and broken heart. People magazine is reporting that during the taping, DeWindt hit it off with Jessie Sulidis—one of Ali's rival contestant's during Jake Pavelka's Bachelor season. Sulidis also played a minor role on Ali's go-round: she was the whistle blower who tipped off producers about Justin's girlfriend. According to a source quoted in People, “They met at The Men Tell All, then went to the after-party and exchanged numbers — and a kiss.”

Presumably this was happening around the time that, according to Zap2it, another former contestant (The Bachelor, Season 2's Christina Costa) got into a car accident, injuring herself and possibly three others; while yet another contestant (Tyler Vermette, one of Ali's suitors) got into a fight on the sidewalk outside. Hey, who needs scripted TV when reality contestants provide so much drama just by being themselves?

But most fascinating of all is the showdown that's brewing between Bachelorette producers and the maddeningly accurate blogger, Reality Steve. Producers are apparently furious that he has correctly predicted the winner of several seasons now. For Ali's season, too, he's posted what he says is the outcome. But this time, competing reports in Us Weekly have been challenging his sources' wisdom.

And according to the blog, deathby1000papercuts, some conspiracy theories are emerging about Bachelorette producers' attempts to throw Steve off. One theory: they filmed two Final Rose endings, and his sources are only aware of one of them!

Like I said, the off-camera gossip is much juicier than what we're seeing on TV!
