'Tis the season for the best back-to-school buys. Whether your studious scholar wants nothing more than a sharp pencil or the more goodies than can fill three backpacks, there are always those items that they just need. We asked the iVillage community, what's the one back-to-school essential your child can't show up to class without? Some of our favorite responses:
A good calendar. He needs to be able to see what's coming up next.
An electric label maker — so I can put the kids' names on their supplies.
An art smock.
Adjustable-waistband jeans.
A vinyl/plastic folder. Those two-pocket paper ones rip the first time you use them, but these are great, especially for younger students who bring home that folder every day.
An oversized calculator.
Extra wedge-top erasers that fit the top of pencils — kids always seem to bite the other ones off.
His new pencil sharpener! He thinks it's the coolest thing. He keeps sharpening and sharpening — by the time school starts, his pencils will be one inch long!
Her favorite cartoon character lunch box.
A rolling backpack. Have you seen the amount of homework they expect kids to pack on their backs these days?
