What's Hot This Year For Kids

There’s nothing like those first weeks of school -- packed lunches, excited kids and brand new “school” clothes! We asked our favorite designers, trend forecasters and department stores for the best fashion advice for your kid’s big first day.

Colorful Denim

Jeans are comfy and always cool for school, but this year designers forecast a new twist on the trend.

“We're going to see unique washes for girls, like brightly colored and patterned jeggings, and edgier cuts for boys like skinny jeans in a black wash,” says Laurie Zuckerman, PR rep for 77Kids, a line from American Eagle.

“Denim will be big, with a focus on new fits -- flare, boot-cut and super-skinny for girls; skinny and super-skinny for boys, too,” says Abinta Malik, senior vice president of Old Navy Baby & Maternity Merchandising.
