The biggest shocker of Friday night's Critics' Choice Movie Awards was the tie for Best Actress -- both Julie & Julia's Meryl Streep and The Blind Side's Sandra Bullock won statuettes. Clearly one actress was more stunned than the other; while Streep instantly transitioned into her typical funny, gracious acceptance-speech mode, Bullock didn't seem to know how to react, erupting first into feigned anger (screaming "This is bulls***!") and then grabbing Streep for an open-mouthed kiss (already, the clip is going viral on YouTube).
Backstage in the press room, there was nothing but love. Streep told reporters she'd just finished watching a Sandra Bullock movie marathon that weekend, "not just these films (The Blind Side and The Proposal), but a lot of other ones, when she was even younger than she is and just as beautiful." Streep then told Bullock she had "an amazing gift" and that she was proud of her.
As for Bullock (who, a few days ago, jokingly threatened to stab Meryl Streep with a high-heeled shoe if Streep won), she seemed thrilled and joked "we're twins." She even complimented Streep on her cleavage! Given that Streep has more Oscar and Golden Globe nods (15 and 25, respectively) than any actor in history, we suspect flattering her is a better career move than stabbing her!
