Barbra Streisand is continuing her mission to raise awareness around the fact that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, higher than all cancers combined. Yet most of the research to fight the deadly disease is done on men -- an inequality that Streisand wants see end. She started out by working with the Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, now called The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center, and then raised upwards of $20 million dollars to help fund more research on heart disease in women.
