It’s easy to feel obligated to entertain someone you’ve just met in order to win them over with your charisma and charm. “But most people are more interested in impressing you and making you laugh,” explains Rubin. Plus, most individuals genuinely enjoy talking about themselves. “So, don’t worry about telling a million funny stories. Instead, focus on being an attentive, responsive listener. This is a better way to engage with someone. It lets them know that you find them interesting and fun.”
