So, so sad.
Golden Girls actress and TV icon, Bea Arthur, died early Saturday morning. She was 86.
A spokesman for Bea's family told the Associated Press that the actress had been suffering from some sort of cancer and passed away peacefully at her home in Los Angeles with her family by her side. He said she would be remembered as "a brilliant and witty woman."
Who didn't love Bea as the acerbic Dorothy on GG? And I know my mom always talked about how much she adored Bea in her 1970s All in the Family spinoff, Maude.
In addition to her television work, Bea was a seasoned Broadway actress, starring in productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Mame.
Go get some late-night cheesecake and remember Bea for the talent she was. She will be missed.
