Further proof that men are from Mars, women are from Venus: Females pay big money to have hair permanently removed, while guys are spending upwards of $6,650 to have it transplanted on.
And we’re not talking heads here – the latest hirsute trend is all about beards.
London’s Daily Mail reports stats from the International Society of Hair Restoration show more than 4,500 men underwent beard transplants in 2013 in the United Kingdom, alone, many hoping to capture the facial hair style of stars like Ben Affleck, David Beckham, Jon Hamm, Bradley Cooper and others who aren’t doing the razor business any favors.
Further, the newspaper adds, a poll shows 59 percent of guys equate a beard with feeling macho, but 45 percent say they can’t grow a full beard (hello, patches and bald spots!), hence the transplants, which, to put the popularity in perspective, were three times more common than nose jobs last year.
But while women often shave, wax and tweeze to look more attractive to men, men seem to be ignoring the appeal a full beard has on women: The poll also showed 67 percent of females would rather see a man with a smooth, hairless face, according to the Daily Mail.
Which leads us to wonder: If a guy thinks transferring hair from the back of his scalp to his chin is going to turn him into Ben Affleck? He might really be from Mars, after all.
