Behind the Scenes of the 'Undercovers' Kitchen Set

The food stylists from NBC's new spy drama reveal their secrets

Have you ever wondered what’s real and what’s fake on the set of your favorite television show? What you see isn’t always what you get, and that’s perfectly illustrated in J.J. Abrams’ new NBC spy drama, Undercovers. The show stars a seemingly typical married couple who own and operate a small L.A. catering company—but they’re secretly two of the best spies the CIA has ever known. Their kitchen ends up being a stage for espionage and hand-to-hand combat, leaving typical reality television kitchen dramas in the dust.

The show’s kitchen set pulls off a few disguises of its own. Steaming pots of water are actually filled with dry ice, real and fake produce intermingle for an oddly realistic effect and refrigerators are filled with empty cartons. The amazing food stylists for Undercovers revealed all of their secrets during a tour of the set. Take a look to find out what’s real and what’s not.

Undercovers airs Wednesdays at 8/9c on NBC beginning September 22.
