Ben Affleck Admits He's a Hopeless Holiday Shopper

The actor tells Ellen DeGeneres that he's happy to leave the gift buying to wife Jennifer Garner

As an actor, director and Oscar-winning writer, Ben Affleck is a man of many talents. But there's one thing the star and scribe of this year's critically acclaimed drama The Town can't handle: Christmas shopping!

While visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 38-year-old star admits (in a segment that airs Tuesday) that when it comes to buying gifts for the family, his wife Jennifer Garner is the best.

Affleck tells host Ellen DeGeneres that he's happy to let Garner do the shopping for their daughters Violet and Seraphina, as well as for friends and family. "My wife is so capable and because I'm less so," he says. "She does a lot of that work, and I kind of root her on. I'm encouraging."

But Affleck claims he spends all that extra time focusing on what to buy his wife. It takes her as much energy and effort to buy like the 20 gifts we're going to buy other people, as it does to buy her gift," he says. "I spend the whole time, fretting about that and being nervous and hoping she likes that."

With all that effort, you'd think Affleck would come up with something fabulous. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. "I end up at like CVS on the 24th being like, 'Maybe she'd like a little Godzilla that goes around,'" he joked.
