An ensemble pregnancy comedy like What to Expect While You're Expecting (in theaters May 18) doesn't sound like the kind of movie that would be heavy on the stunts. But actor Ben Falcone -- who in real life is married to funny lady and Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy -- insists that comedy can be just as dangerous as filming an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie... especially when your pregnant onscreen wife is played by Elizabeth Banks (who's also an iVillage CelebVillage blogger!).
One particular scene called for Banks, whose character is going through an "uncomfortable" pregnancy, to slap Falcone. And since Falcone didn't think he could fake being slapped, he told his costar just to go for it.
"I told Elizabeth just to slap me for real. Slap me as many times as you can," the 38-year-old actor tells iVillage exclusively. "And so we did it about seven times. And around the seventh time, I was beginning to wish that I was better at stunts."
Offscreen, Falcone finds fatherhood -- he and McCarthy are parents to daughters Vivian, almost 5, and Georgette, 2 -- to be far less painful.
"I didn't know how into it I'd be. I didn't know how much fun -- I thought it was going to be fun, and it was even better," he says of becoming a dad. "I really love it. They're pretty great kids."
Watch our exclusive video interview to find out some of the perks Falcone enjoyed while filming What to Expect, as well as what it's like to be the only man in a family of three women (plus a female dog).
