Exciting news, Boy Meets World fans! Disney Channel is cooking up a sequel to the series called Girl Meets World, and both Cory and Topanga are going to be returning for it.
TV Line was the first to break the news that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel would be reprising their roles as the couple who we last saw living happily ever after when Boy Meets World went off the air in 2000. Disney Channel later confirmed the casting news, and Fishel thanked fans for their support on her Tumblr.
"First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome. That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring. You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that Girl Meets World WILL BE MADE," she writes.
Disney Channel has sent out an official synopsis of the show, which explains that Cory and Topanga are a "happily married couple and parents to 13-year-old Riley, from whose point of view the story is told." The pilot for Girl Meets World is currently being developed by Boy Meets World creator/producer Michael Jacobs, and Disney is conducting a "nationwide casting search" to find its Riley Matthews.
No word yet on whether any other fan-favorite cast members like Rider Strong, William Daniels, Will Friedle or Lindsay Ridgeway will return as well, but our fingers are crossed.
