Bernie Mac

Comedian Bernie Mac passed away at the age of 50 due to complications from pneumonia. In 2007 Bernie said on the Late Show that he was planning to retire. "It's going to be 30 years for me, and I'm going to call it... I missed a lot of things, you know... I went into clubs in 1977." His long career began in Chicago where he worked as a stand-up comedian. From 2001-2006, Bernie had his own show, The Bernie Mac Show, which earned him four NAACP Image awards. On August 1, Bernie Mac was taken to the hospital for pneumonia, though he was expected to recover.
