Stand-up Paddling (SUP) is a combination of canoeing and surfing -- you stand on a surfboard while paddling through ocean waves or placid lakes or bays. This intense core workout is not easy and requires an investment in a board, a paddle and a few accessories. But once you make that investment, it’s a free and fun way to get fit. “The core strength needed for this activity will help to improve balance and lower back conditions,” says DeVito.
