For all the times we've ponied up for some overpriced fairy house, train shed or light-up triceratops that just sits gathering dust in the corner, there is the one cheapo toy that seriously delivers. And at iVillage we've reached consensus: The toy that is the best bang for the buck, that offers the greatest return on investment, that is worth its weight in pure gold (and then some) is:
The doll stroller.
We'd like to know if you can find a toy that toddlers will play with more frequently, indoors or out. For about $15 (no, you don't need the mini-Maclaren), you get a doll or car courier, a push-toy, and let's be honest, a ride-on, despite what the warning labels say.
If you don't believe us, roll into a playground with a mini doll stroller, you will be swarmed by other pint-size pushers or wanna-bes. If you need further proof, we've spotted celeb offspring from Suri Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Tabitha to Rebecca Gayheart’s little Billie and Madonna's little guy David. (And odds are those kids can have any toy that they please.)
Surprised to see a boy in the mix? Don't be: Boys love doll strollers as much as girls do (even if they're pink.) Most commonly used for transporting Matchbox cars, Legos or rocks, little guys also enjoy crashing them into couches (or unsuspecting adults) and rolling them down stairs. In short, if there's a toy out there to rival the doll stroller, we'd love to hear about it -- Christmas is just around the corner.
