“.@KatyPerry has THE LEG of the night! @JLo and @AngelinaJolie approve!,” tweeted celeb blogger Perez Hilton (@PerezHilton). The pop star herself admitted that she was giving a little Angelina Jolie with the gaping thigh slit in her leopard-print dress. But her exposed limb doesn’t have its own Twitter account…yet.
“Gwen Stefani has had SOOOO much work done...why can't celebs age gracefully?,” tweeted ETOnline’s editorial director Jarett Wieselman (@JarettSays), referring to Miley Cyrus’s knotted ‘do circa No Doubt era.
Her grown-up pin curl ‘do didn’t seem to sit well with most VMA viewers. “Love the dress on Taylor Swift but I think she could have done different hair and makeup…” fashion entrepreneur Loren Ridinger (@lorenridinger) politely tweeted about the singer’s plunging gown and questionable locks. Hmm, maybe Taylor should get some tips from Jared Leto.
Jared Leto’s Hair
“Instant Herbal Essences commercial,” tweeted comedian Grace Helbig (@gracehelbig) when Jordan Catalano, er, Jared Leto took the stage. The 30 Seconds to Mars singer’s ombre strands caused some serious hair envy from style blogger Man Repeller (@ManRepeller): “I'm definitely taking a photo of Jared Leto to the hair salon the next time I plan to color.”
Her sedate Morticia Addams-esque look on the red carpet must be what she “wears to clean the garage,” NPR’s Linda Holmes (@nprmonkeysee) tweeted. But for her performance, Gaga channeled The Little Mermaid complete with a seashell bra. “Lady Gaga just walked back to her seat...and she's still wearing that string bikini,” reported The New York Times’s Brian Stelter (@brianstelter). Let’s hope the Barclays Center invests in anti-bacterial wipes.
Justin Timberlake and 'N Sync
The big question of the night wasn’t will they reunite, but would they resurrect their sweet 90s style? “I hope the fact that JT is wearing a hat in his pre-VMAs interview means he'll bust out the N SYNC cornrows today,” tweeted the Go Fug Yourself girls (@fuggirls). “Kirkpatrick couldn’t regrow the dreds?!?! Be a team player,” chided Helbig (@gracehelbig) during the boy band’s performance.
