Betty White

Do-gooder resume: Why was Betty White recently named the most trusted and popular celebrity in America? Her decades of devoted work with animal charities has at least a little something to do with it. She's been a trustee of the Morris Animal Foundation, a world leader in veterinary research, since 1971, and currently serves as a president emeriti of the organization. She's also a patron of the Los Angeles Zoo, donates regular lumps of money to animal charities (she gave $100,000 to the L.A. Zoo alone in just one month), and even penned the upcoming book, Betty & Friends: My Life at the Zoo, about her love of and devotion to animals (with proceeds going to her beloved pet charities). The national treasure even had an animal-related lifelong dream come true last November, when the U.S. Forest Service and Smokey the Bear, made her an honorary forest ranger.
