Betty White Gets Official 'SNL' Hosting Date

Let the "Betty White is Hosting 'Saturday Night Live!'" countdown begin! After a hugely successful Facebook campaign to get the Golden Girls star to helm an evening of Saturday Night Live, White, 88, will finally be gracing the stage of Studio 8H.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, White, who has never in her career hosted SNL, will make her debut on May 8. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels said of White's big night, "I can't think of a better way to spend Mother's Day weekend than with Betty White." Michaels, 65, spoke to USA Today about White, also brought up the Facebook support for the actress, "It took on a groundswell. It isn't something we would have said no to, (but the campaign) validated that…It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way."

White will be joined during the episode by fellow funny ladies Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch, E! reports. The musical guest for White's episode has not yet been announced.

White was last seen in the comedy blockbuster The Proposal and was given a lifetime achievement award at this year's SAG ceremony.
