Justin Bieber hasn't done too many interviews since he broke up with Selena Gomez, started attacking paparazzi and stopped wearing a shirt. Fortunately, he took a break from venturing into Lindsay Lohan-meets-Charlie-Sheen territory to appear on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. And boy, are we glad he did! For this latest installment of his deliberately-awkward chat show, Galifianakis takes Bieber to task for his recent behavior. Watch the uncomfortable hilarity below!
Basically, Galifianakis asks Bieber all the questions that other journalists are too polite to ask, including:
- "Is it fun to be cocky?"
- "When you're in the recording studio, do you ever think, hey, what if I don't make something sh**ty?"
- "You've had three hairstyles. What's next for your career?"
- "You said recently that Anne Frank could have been a Belieber. Do you mean that if the Nazis had not taken her, and she'd lived to be in her 80s, she would have liked your music, presumably do to loss of hearing? Or, were you talking about time travel, and you think if you could build a machine and go back to visit Anne Frank, she would have been a Belieber then?"
The interview ends with Galifianakis shouting at Bieber ("You're too young to be smoking pot and pee-peeing in buckets and driving down the highway fast!") and then whipping him with a belt, before getting slimed from above, Nickelodeon-style. You just don't see that kind of dedicated TV journalism these days.
Best of all, Bieber sits there and takes it with a straight face. He talks about time traveling and hanging out with Joy Behar. It's a nice reminder that, when Justin isn't being an obnoxious brat, he actually has a sense of humor about himself. Weirdly, this "Funny or Die" sketch is the most mature we've seen him in over a year. More of this Justin, please! We want to belieb again.
