Beyonce and Jay-Z revealed the first newborn photos of baby Blue Ivy and two words instantly leap to mind: That hair!
Seriously, the one-month old baby has nearly as much hair as I do -- and certainly more than both of my newborn daughters had put together. In fact, I’m pretty sure neither of my babies was sporting such a lush gamine look before her second birthday. (Docs aren't sure why some babies are born with more hair than others, but apparently the baby's levels of Mom's hormones play a role. Which is also why some newborns can shed like Labradors in the first six months before the baby's real hair grows in.)
Once I got past the hair (fine, I never got past it), there were other things to note about the photos: Not surprisingly, Blue is a beautiful baby. Beyonce, of course, looks stunning. Is the nursery to-die-for? I wouldn’t know, because they rudely blurred that out of their photos. Yes, the power-parents deserve props for releasing the first highly-anticipated pictures on their own Tumblr page and not selling that privilege to the highest bidder. (For Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, we’re talking a reported eleven million bucks, so I might not have judged them too harshly if they had sold out.)
But honestly it all sort of pales in comparison to that hair.
