Get ready to see Beyonce raw, real and revealed! The 31-year-old pop star has put herself in front of the camera for a new documentary that will air on HBO, and the first teaser for the special promises a side of her that we've never seen.
"I always battle with how much do I reveal about myself," Bey says in the video. "If I'm scared, be scared. Allow it. Release it."
The doc chronicles Beyonce's life from her adolescence in Houston through her breakout with Destiny's Child to her Grammy-winning solo career. It then focuses on her marriage to Jay-Z and the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. This is just the first look at the documentary, which premieres on HBO on Feb. 16. Hopefully more snippets of the film will be released as we get closer to that air date.
"Everybody knows Beyonce's music, but few know Beyonce the person," the president of HBO programming says in a statement. "Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."
Beyonce has kept her personal life to herself over the past few years, so it will be interesting to see a different side to the composed musician we're used to seeing -- even if it's just the side of her she wants us to see.
