The media seems pretty convinced that Beyonce is pregnant, with both E! News and the New York Post independently confirming the baby rumor. Of course, the only people who can really confirm it are Beyonce and Jay-Z -- and right now, they're denying it all.
In an email exchange with the radio station Hot 97 this weekend, Jay-Z shot down reports that Blue Ivy is getting a sibling. "It's not true. The news is worse than blogs," the rapper told station director Ebro Darden.
Meanwhile, Beyonce posted a biting response on Instagram.
"I can't stop the rumors from starting, and I can't really change peoples minds who believe them, all I can do is sit back and laugh at these low life people who have nothing better to do than talk about me," read Beyonce's note, which was removed shortly after she posted it.
Perhaps most telling of all: After canceling a recent concert due to "exhaustion," Beyonce put on a dazzling, high-energy performance on Friday in Zurich. And those concert outfits leave little to the imagination -- meaning that the alleged baby bump was either a)very well-hidden, b)not showing yet, or c) never existed in the first place.
Is it time to put the pregnancy rumors to rest, then? Maybe not so fast. Beyonce and Jay-Z wouldn't be the first celebrities to lie about a pregnancy in the early months. Maybe they're annoyed that the news leaked, and that they're not controlling the conversation. Maybe E! News ruined their intended big public reveal.
Or maybe they're being cautious for a very normal, sensible reason: Beyonce has a history of miscarriage. A lot of women with miscarriage fears won't tell their closest friends they're pregnant until the first trimester has passed. Why would Beyonce want to tell the whole world?
On the other hand, maybe Beyonce is simply not pregnant, and all the "sources" got it wrong. It could happen. We'll just leave you with this: usually, when a celebrity is the subject of a false pregnancy rumor, their rep is quick to issue a statement of denial. So far, Beyonce and Jay-Z's reps have been weirdly silent.
