It's official: Beyonce has lost the baby weight! The pounds she put on while pregnant with Blue Ivy were gone this past Saturday night when she returned to the stage in Atlantic City for her first concert post-baby (with First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters reportedly in the audience).
Mrs. Jay-Z also shared her number: The exact amount of weight she's lost since little Blue's birth four-and-a-half months ago.
"Y'all have no idea how hard I worked! I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!" she proclaimed on stage, according to US Weekly, while wearing a midriff-baring, custom-designed getup featuring Swarovski crystals.
We actually can imagine how hard she worked to drop that amount of baby weight in under five months -- which is no easy feat. (To celebrate, she told the audience she was planning to get "chocolate wasted" later that night.)
Sasha Fierce had appeared well on her way to fitting into her pre-pregnancy jeans when she debuted her post-baby body in March. She already appeared impressively trimmed-down in those photos, perhaps due to a combo of hard work, genetics and breastfeeding, which she told People magazine she did for ten weeks.
Beyonce's impressive weight loss has got to be either inspiration or intimidation for another new celebrity mom: Jessica Simpson. The singer and Fashion Star mentor got serious attention for her eye-popping pregnancy weight gain, but now has a $4 million incentive (yes, really) to lose it since signing a mega-deal with Weight Watchers after the birth of daughter Maxwell Drew May 1.
I'm due to give birth to my second child any day now, and I don't have any lucrative post-baby weight loss contracts or looming performance dates to motivate me. Still, I look forward to losing some of the weight in a reasonable amount of time through walking, running after my 2-year-old, eating lots of lean protein and fruits and veggies and nursing. Lucky for me, however, I don't need to fit into a jewel-encrusted two-piece in front of most of the free world.
