If you’re eager to rip the bandage off -- or if you need the crib for another baby on the way -- you may find yourself prepping your tot for an earlier transition. Most experts say to wait until about age 3 to make the move, but we know plenty of parents who switched when their kids were just 2. The transition might take a little longer if you go this route (younger kids don’t respond as well to bribes and rewards for staying in bed as they do when they’re a bit older), but you’ll feel mighty smug a year or two later when all your friends are struggling with the switch. And you’ll save the $400 you would have spent on another crib for the new baby.
