While many critics were less than jazzed about the finale, fans have been far more enthusiastic. The episode starts off with a bang when Bill attempts to get Alby removed from power. His efforts are thwarted, however, when Alby appears and has Bill kicked off the compound. Things get more dramatic when Adaleen spies on Alby and Lura in Roman's room. From her hiding spot in a closet, she watches Lura administer drugs into the IV. From the looks of it, Alby and Lura really don't have any morals. Margie tries to tell Pam she can't be a surrogate, but Pam begins to cry, sobbing that her husband will leave her if she doesn't have kids. Feeling bad, and because this is Margie who is always easily manipulated, Margie impulsively changes her mind and reassures Pam she'll have the baby after all. Creating an even bigger mess, Margie confesses to Ana that her Phil and Ana's Bill are the same man. Of course, Ana totally loses it and flees.
Meanwhile, Bill meets with Agent Connolly, telling her she should check out Alby. Agent Connolly is dubious, and Bill gives her a list of UEB members who he claims will back up his story. Bill then shows up at Barb's and promises her he will make things right with Ben. Barb, not unlike Agent Connolly, isn't convinced. Ana comes back and though she views Margie's actions as a betrayal the two make amends. Margie tells her she just wanted a friend and a sister, something she doesn't always feel as though she has with Barb and Nicki. And you know, that's totally understandable. Ana agrees that Barb and Nicki are demanding and bossy. I like Ana, and despite Margie's many faults, she somehow always ends up being more likable than Barb and Nicki. The conclusion of this scene means that Ana is almost certainly going to be back next season. Adaleen calls Nicki after kidnapping Roman in an effort to save him from Alby and Lura. She begs Nicki to let them stay with at her house, even offering cash. Nicki agrees. The entire family convenes at Nicki's to await the doctor's report. The doctor tells Bill privately that Roman would be better off in a hospital. However, Adaleen reminds Bill that he owes her big time for her assistance in helping Bill and his brother. She doesn't want Roman hospitalized, so Bill tells the group that the doctor advised that Roman be kept at home. Bill visits Joey in the basement to tell him the news about Roman. Bill is hopeful that with Agent Connolly's investigation they may finally be able to get rid of the Grants. The next morning, Barb and Nicki find out that Ana knows about their marriage. Nicki quickly deduces that Margie wants Ana to be fourth wife. She confronts Margie and tells her to keep Ana away while Roman is living with them. Margie tells Nicki that Bill dated Ana, and Nicki is appropriately shocked. She then orders Margie not to spill the beans to Barb. Bill is voted in as the new trustee on the board, a decision Alby vocally supports. Bill, on the other hand, is not pleased. He demands a second vote even though Joey wants him to reconsider. Roman begins to recover and wants to return to the compound. Bill won't hear of it and disconnects Nicki's phone line to prevent Roman from escaping. Lois comes to Barb's and asks Bill to accept the position of trustee. Bill and Barb say no, and Lois calls her son a pansy. You gotta love Lois and her spunk! Pam tells Barb that Margie has agreed to be the surrogate. Furious, Barb confronts Margie and suggests that Margie's inappropriate decision is due to Ana's influence. Margie tells Barb she wants Bill and Ana to date and that they have already met. Barb is speechless and leaves. Lois tries to get Wanda to poison Roman, but Wanda resists, claiming she has already hurt too many people for Lois. Barb tells Bill there is no way she will ever accept a fourth wife. Bill is angry, but then Barb tells him that Margie is having a baby for Pam. Bill runs to Margie and tells her there is no way she is having a baby any other woman. Across town, Sarah insists that she and Scott go all the way. Back at the house, Alby calls and tells Bill he has been voted chairman. Bill tells Roman he can return to the compound, but only if Roman gives his blessing on Weber. Bill also tells Roman that though he was voted trustee he is going to refuse the position. Roman agrees to Bill's terms. As the men talk, Barb takes Margie to Pam's and forces her to tell Pam she can't be her surrogate. Shockingly, Barb then reveals that they are all one big family! Back at the house, the entire family celebrates Pioneer Day. Ana and Bill argue privately, but eventually end up in each other's arms. Barb tells Bill what she told Pam. She also says that she'll go along with him, but only if she is always number one. They kiss. When Roman returns to the compound, he is arrested for transporting women across state lines for immoral purposes. This is, of course, all Alby's doing. Whew! That's a jam-packed finale!
