From choosing the wrong paint color to picking furniture that's too large for the space, everyone makes mistakes when they decorate. The important thing is to learn from them and from the missteps of your friends. If you're tired of living with curtains that are too short or a paint color that you hate, you're not alone. Some iVillagers share their biggest design bloopers.
"I picked out [a couch and loveseat], not thinking about how they would fit in with my young kids. The backs are big overstuffed, loose pillows. I have spent that last seven years picking up those darn pillows and putting them back on several times a day." —atozmamma
"[T]he curtains in the master bedroom—6 panels of silk, each 120 inches long so that they would poof at the bottom, hanging from a wrought iron rod that is the diameter of your pinky. [They] span the length of one wall so I had to join three rods together. [They're t]otally crooked, completely off balance and I have to look at [them] everyday." —applebead
"We repainted our computer room and I had the hardest time finding just the right color. We painted the whole room twice [and] I still didn't like it." —neverstopping
"I've been living with a paint [color] that I hate in my bedroom for five years now." —neverstopping
"The corner couch we ordered for the TV room ([that] needs to be real[ly comfortable]) was a huge mistake. You plop down on it and [it] feels like you sat on a rock." —cl-twig04
"When our house was built we had the great room painted what I thought was a soft lavender. It looked like a huge Easter egg on all these big walls." —wildflower05
"I had my DD1's bedroom painted light pink in a former home. I went over to see how the painters were doing and it looked like a bright Pepto Bismol room." —neverstopping
