Favorite cheat food: Chips and salsa
Goal for 2010: to weigh 185 pounds
Starting weight: 346 pounds
iVillage: What was your big turning point-either during the show or before that made you realize you needed to lose the weight?
I always checked in on the show online whether I was watching the show or not. I checked in online and realized there was a casting call close to me. And I realized that I was extremely overweight. So I called my mom and asked her if she wanted to go to the casting call.
iVillage: What is one thing you wish you had known before going on The Biggest Loser?
I wish I had known how strong I was before I started all this.
iVillage: Did you think it’s harder or easier to be on the show with a family member as a teammate as opposed to competing by yourself?
I think having my mom on the show with me made it easier because if I slacked off at all, I wouldn't be letting just a partner down, I would be letting my family down. That makes you work a little harder.
iVillage: If you could have done one thing differently during the show, what would it be?
I feel like I was a little shy at first in front of all the cameras, but it was part of the process.
iVillage: What's the hardest thing to adapt to while living on the ranch?
The hardest part of being at the ranch was not having contact with any of my friends or family.
iVillage: What is one thing that keeps you motivated when you don't feel like working out or you want to eat junk food?
The thing that makes you stay on track is setting a goal. That makes you second guess slacking on a workout or your nutrition plan, because you know it will keep you from your goal.
iVillage: What is your favorite workout?
I like being outside, so going for a walk or run outside is one of my favorite workouts to do. On my runs, it never gets boring, whether I am enjoying nature or dodging cars.
iVillage: What's the best advice Bob or Jillian has given you?
Bob made me realize that even though I had a goal and I needed to work for it, I also needed to find time for myself to relax and take a break. Keeping myself stress-free really helped me stay on track.
iVillage: What is your favorite meal or snack?
A healthy meal that I really like is a pan seared piece of fish, grilled asparagus, a sweet potato and a big salad. I get filled up and it is relatively low in calories.
iVillage: What's something viewers at home wouldn't know from watching the show?
I really like working on things and knowing how they work. I plan on going back to school and finishing up my degree when I get done with the show.
