The Biggest Loser's Tanya on Week 10: Going it Alone

It's single's time! In her exclusive blog for iVillage, Tanya talks about what it feels like to be separated from her team

It’s week 10 on the Biggest Loser ranch and boy, what a week.

After 9 weeks of fighting together, supporting each other, and heartfelt bonding, the Red Team as we know it has come to an end. Yep, it’s single’s time, and I for one was not looking forward to it. It’s not that I don’t think I can stand alone, but I’m afraid of losing the team camaraderie and love we shared as a team. It almost felt like I was divorcing my entire family, and I didn’t want it to turn into a bitter divorce. Transitioning to singles is usually when the competition gets ugly, but we vowed to continue to support each other and be a family – we vowed to be The Red Team for life! I was honored to keep my Red Team jersey, after all red is my favorite color, my childhood nickname, and reminds me of my salvation. I will wear my red proudly and represent Dolvett and the former Red Team.

Our first challenge as singles was a challenge of strength and endurance as we held 20% of our body weight in the “Ring of Fire.” I knew without a doubt, this would be a challenge for which I would have to use caution and wisdom, after injuring my back during a workout earlier in the week. Needless to say, I was the first one out after 5 minutes. Those 5 minutes felt like 50 minutes and I’m actually surprised I made it that long. We're in singles now and I decided to sacrifice the challenge win and a 1 pound advantage to be able to preserve my body for the rest of the competition.

After four straight weeks of losing 4 pounds each week, I finally broke the streak by losing 7 pounds! I’m so excited my hard work finally showed up on the scale this week and proved not only to Dolvett, my Red Team family, and others, but most importantly, I proved to myself that I can stand strong on the scale alone. For the first time since being on the ranch, I actually believed I can be successful and possibly even win the title of The Biggest Loser. Why not Me?!
