The Biggest Loser's Tanya Winfield Dishes on Week 6 and Getting Ruben Back

In her exclusive blog for iVillage, Tanya reveals how the Red Team won its first challenge and reflects on how far they've each come

Red Team is back in full affect! Week 6 was monumental for many reasons, not only has our Velvet Teddy Ruben returned to the ranch, making our Red Team 5 members strong again, but we also won our very first challenge. To add icing to the cake (sugar-free, of course), we won the weigh-in as well! We were also reminded of how far we have come on our journey and reflected on why we’re here with a special surprise.

Ruben’s return to the ranch sparked lots of enthusiasm and re-charged our team in an instant. We immediately hit the gym and started back working out as a whole team, with a common focus on winning! Not just winning weigh-ins and challenges, but winning our lives back. Our commitment and bond as a team was more solid than ever, and our results during the challenge proved it. As a team, we immediately strategized to place members in their proper position by utilizing our strengths and weaknesses. David was our team leader, Rachel and Jennifer were our runners, and Ruben and I were cheerleaders. And we all played our roles to perfection. We finally broke the blue team’s challenge winning streak, won cash, but most importantly, we used our setbacks as a major comeback.

We are now six weeks into our journey on the ranch, so the next surprise couldn’t come at a better time. The “Remember Why We’re Here” segment was my most memorable moment of the week. This was a time of reflection to look back on how far we have truly come on our journey and a real reminder of why we are here. We were surprised with clips from our audition videos and watched our “old” selves cry out for help. I didn’t even recognize myself in the video; I was a helpless, desperate, defeated person pleading to be rescued from myself. But seeing footage and pictures of my beautiful children is what really hit home for me. The video reminded me that I’m here to be a better mother, daughter, sister and friend. I’m reminded that my children deserve to have a happy, healthy and whole mother free from poor eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. I reminded myself that I’m here to be the best me possible. With a loss of 42 pounds so far, and a decrease of emotional baggage, I am well on my way to being that person.
