What a week! This week started off pretty intense with the most difficult workout yet. Why? Because we have now been introduced to “Dolvett’s Dungeon,” an outdoor oasis of extreme exercises in 95+ degree heat. The intense workout, on top of the heat, caused me to feel sick, light headed and dizzy. I’ve never pushed myself to this limit and had to trust Dolvett to finish the workout safely. Dolvett saved me last week, so placing my trust in him was getting easier, but this workout was getting harder by the minute. I felt a sense of redemption this week so I pushed through the workout, not just for Dolvett and my team, but for myself.
The first temptation of the season is finally here and boy is it a temptation. We’re all face to face with one of the reasons why we were on the ranch -- junk food! The temptation was for immunity so we all decided the risk of consuming the calories was well worth the prize. Unfortunately, we lost the challenge and the one team with a “Save” to use (the blue team) won. With no save to use, we immediately faced the realization that someone was going home from the white or red team.
I worked out 8-10 hours per day to help save the red team, and ultimately keep myself on the ranch. I chose only the best food options and made sure my fellow team members held me accountable to succeed this week. I felt very confident going into the weigh-in because of these factors. Ruben and I both worked out more than previous weeks during week 4, most often side by side, in the Biggest Loser gym. We only ate well-balanced, low-calorie, healthy options, and never consumed more than our caloric allowance. But once again, our hard work didn’t show on the scale, and I was left shocked and disappointed at the results. How could I possibly only lose 3 pounds and Ruben only lose 5? For the second week in a row, the red team lost another weigh in. Sadly, Ruben fell below the red line and was eliminated from the competition. What’s going on?! I lost my roommate, Fernanda, in week 2, and now my workout buddy/prayer partner, Ruben, in week 4. My thoughts: how much longer will I last? Stay tuned…
