DIY Nail Designs for Tweens

Interest in (okay, obsession with) DIY nail art exploded in 2012 so it's a no-brainer that kids are next for this trend in 2013. "Younger girls who may not be allowed to wear makeup or jewelry -- but can paint their nails! -- have helped make this trend grow quickly and widely," says Stacy Boyd, a nail tech and creator of Glitzology Beauty nail polish. To create designs, girls are layering different polishes for a "scatter-dot" effect, drawing animals or flowers with markers and using stickers and gems for extra sparkle.
