We're certainly not saying the childhood obesity epidemic is over, but this may be the year initiatives aimed at ebbing the problem of overweight kids start to gain strength and show results. With the president's reelection, Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Campaign is bound to grow; the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act is now in effect (making federal school lunch and breakfast programs healthier); and a new report from The New York Times cites that the obesity rate for kids is down in several cities -- including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Anchorage, Alaska. We're cautiously optimistic.
