Billy Ray Cyrus recently came forward saying that he's trying to mend his family. But as Lindsay Lohan's dad has proved several times, blabbing to the media isn't always the best way to connect with your famous daughter.
Now sources are saying that Billy Ray's loose lips have caused an even bigger rift between him and Miley Cyrus.
"Miley is upset," a source close to the star told People.com. "She's very hurt and angry" over her dad's recent words to the media regarding their family and the negative impact fame has had on them.
But friends of Billy Ray (who separated from wife Tish last fall) say he's a dedicated dad, who's just desperate to get back what he once had.
"Maybe he can't get the message of how much they mean to him across, and this is the way to do it," an insider said in defense of Billy Ray.
Admitting to People.com that his comments in a recent GQ magazine article were "explosive and unintentionally so," he also says he's determined to put his family back together.
In the meantime, pals of Miley say the 18-year-old is doing her best to keep it together.
"(She) seemed stressed," said a friend who saw Miley recently. "Though she tries to hide it behind a constant smile."
