On Tuesday, a series of five nude photographs of a woman purported to be 23-year-old Gossip Girl star Blake Lively surfaced on PerezHilton.com and then (not shockingly) spread like wildfire across the Internet.
But today, Lively's spokeswoman released a statement insisting that the pics -- which show a fully nude blond woman photographing herself in a bathroom mirror using her iPhone -- are "100 percent FAKE."
"Blake has never taken nude photos of herself," says the rep. And, what's more, Lively is threatening to sue anyone who publishes the snaps. "Blake will pursue legal action against the publication which initially published these photographs and any other outlets that republish them in any manner."
Fans and celebrity gossip sites were suspicious of the photos from the get-go, noting the earlier version of the iPhone depicted, as well as the woman's blond hair -- Lively, of course, recently dyed her hair red.
Lively rose to fame as a cast member of the hit show Gossip Girl, and has since branched out into film roles, including a memorable performance in Ben Affleck's Oscar-nominated 2010 thriller The Town and a turn in the upcoming superhero flick The Green Lantern (out June 17).
Lively's personal life, meanwhile, has been a source of incessant gossip. She was rumored to have gotten "cozy" with Ryan Gosling in late 2010, and more recently has been spotted with newly single Leonardo DiCaprio all around Europe. In addition, Blake is now the new face of Chanel handbags, and was named to TIME magazine's 2011 list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
In other words, the tabloids might want to hold off on running those photos.
