The secret to their wedded bliss is a simple one, explains the happy bride. "We won't go more than two weeks without seeing each other," Lambert, 28, tells People in its latest cover story.
But on the other hand, the busy couple firmly believes that absence makes the heart grow fonder and doesn't mind a little time apart in between their blissful reunions. In fact, the newlyweds explain, if they spend too much time together, "we'll kill each other," Shelton, 36, jokes.
So far, the country couple -- who exchanged vows under an arch of antlers in Lambert's native Texas in May 2011 -- has only spent 150 days of their marriage together, because their jam-packed schedules are filled with so many professional responsibilities that take them different locations for concerts and promotional tours.
Recently, however, the two have been making their home base in Hollywood, where Shelton tapes his hit NBC reality series, The Voice.
One thing the super busy couple knows is eventually on the horizon is starting a family. Just don't expect Lambert to sport a baby bump any time soon.
"There is a lot [career wise] that is happening right now and it only happens once," Shelton told People in March. "We want to enjoy this and be able to focus on our careers so when it is time we'll be ready to sit around and watch that happen."
